Distance Reiki (Absent Healing)
Gentle Reiki — wherever you are in the world
You don't have to travel to receive Reiki. One of the most beautiful aspects of the Usui system is that Reiki can be sent at a distance — across towns, counties, countries, and time zones — and be received just as deeply as if you were lying on the couch in our therapy centre.
Distance Reiki is ideal for anyone who can't easily make it to the centre: housebound clients, those in hospital, people abroad, parents who can't leave home in the evenings, and anyone who'd simply rather receive in the quiet of their own bedroom.
What is distance Reiki?
At Reiki Level 2 and above, practitioners are trained to use specific symbols and mantras to direct Reiki beyond the immediate physical space. Instead of placing hands on or near your body, the practitioner holds you in focused intention during an agreed session time, and channels Reiki to wherever you are.
Distance Reiki is a well-established, traditional part of the Usui system — it's not a modern "add-on," but something the lineage has always included.
What a distance Reiki session may help with
Clients most often book distance Reiki when they're looking for:
Deep relaxation and support at home
Help winding down before sleep
Comfort through a difficult season — grief, illness, stress
Support alongside ongoing medical treatment
Regular energetic maintenance when you can't easily visit in person
Reiki for a loved one — with their consent (this is important; we only ever send with permission)
As with all our therapies, distance Reiki is a complementary practice and is not a substitute for medical care.
How a distance session works
It's simple, and surprisingly lovely.
Book a session — you choose a 30 or 45-minute time slot.
Short pre-session message — before the session, we'll exchange a short message covering anything you'd like Reiki focused on (physical tension, emotional support, a difficult week, or simply "a full reset").
At your appointed time — you settle somewhere quiet where you won't be disturbed. On a bed, sofa, or floor mat. Comfortable, warm, eyes closed. Phone on silent.
I hold the session from the centre — I work in the same quiet, attuned way as an in-person session, sending Reiki with a focus on what you've shared.
A short follow-up note afterwards — a few sentences on how the session felt from my side, plus space for you to let me know how it landed for you.
Most clients report the same sensations as in-person Reiki — warmth, gentle waves, a drifting sense of rest, occasional emotional softening. Others feel very little during and notice the effect quietly over the next day or two.
Who it's for
Distance Reiki is suitable for almost everyone — particularly:
Housebound clients or those with limited mobility
Clients based outside the local area, elsewhere in the UK, or abroad
New parents and carers who can't easily leave home
People too unwell to travel
Busy professionals wanting evening Reiki from home
Clients who've enjoyed in-person Reiki with us and want "top-up" sessions between visits

We never send Reiki to someone who hasn't asked to receive it. If you'd like to gift distance Reiki to a loved one, please ask them first — and we'll send you a gift voucher they can redeem themselves once they're ready.
After your session
Drink plenty of water, take it gently for the rest of the evening if you can, and expect to sleep well. As with in-person sessions, effects often deepen quietly over the following day or two.
About your therapist
Distance Reiki is delivered by Richy ("Dickie") Parton, Usui Reiki Master and founder of RP Therapies. Sessions are held with the same care and attention as an in-person treatment — never rushed, never squeezed between meetings.

Your Instructor
Richy
Distance Reiki sessions are held by Richy ("Dickie") Parton, founder of RP Therapies and a dedicated Reiki and spiritual healing practitioner. Dickie is a twice-certified Usui Reiki Master, having completed full Masters training with two different tutors on two separate lineages — which means your distance session is held within the traditional Usui framework, by someone grounded in it from more than one angle. Distance healing is a long-established part of that tradition, not a modern add-on, and every session is given the same quiet, unhurried attention as an in-person treatment — never squeezed between meetings, never rushed.
