About the Course

Life Coaching & Counselling

A calm, confidential hour — to think things through properly

Sometimes what you need isn't a therapy couch and an energy treatment. Sometimes what you need is an hour of unhurried, honest conversation — with someone who isn't going to judge you, push their own agenda, or try to fix you before you've finished the sentence.

Life coaching and counselling sessions at RP Therapies are exactly that: a quiet, confidential hour in our purpose-built therapy centre, to help you think clearly about where you are, where you'd like to be, and what a kind, realistic next step might look like.

Coaching, counselling — what's the difference?

It's a fair question, and a lot of people aren't sure. In very broad terms:

  • Life coaching tends to look forward. Where am I now? Where do I want to be? What's in the way, and what's the next step? It works well when you're broadly okay but stuck, stalled, or standing at a crossroads.

  • Counselling tends to look inward and back. What am I carrying? What keeps repeating? What do I need to understand before I can move on? It works well when something specific is weighing on you — a difficult season, a loss, a pattern, or a period of low mood.

Many people sit somewhere in the middle — and our sessions comfortably hold both. We start where you are, listen properly, and let the work find its own shape over time.

What people most often come for

  • Feeling "stuck" — in a job, a relationship, or a stage of life

  • A difficult season: bereavement, a break-up, redundancy, illness, a move

  • Low confidence or loss of a sense of self

  • Men's mental health — particularly a quiet, non-judgemental space for men who don't usually "do" talking

  • Burnout, exhaustion, a slowly building sense of overwhelm

  • Major life decisions — career, family, retirement, legacy

  • Spiritual questioning and seasons of change

  • Simply wanting a regular hour to think, with someone who listens well

What happens in a session

You'll arrive at the centre and be made welcome — tea, comfortable seating, nothing clinical. There's no long intake form and no script. We start with wherever you are.

Sessions move at your pace. Some clients come with very specific goals. Others come to unpack something difficult slowly, over several weeks. Both approaches are equally welcome.

We work gently and with clear boundaries — your honesty, your privacy, and your dignity are held carefully throughout.

Every session ends with a few minutes of quiet before you head back out into the world. If you'd like, we can close with a short breathing practice or even a brief Reiki "pass" — entirely optional.

Honest scope — and when to see someone else

These sessions are coaching and supportive counselling, held by a holistic therapist. They are not a replacement for:

  • A clinical psychologist or psychotherapist

  • GP-referred NHS mental health services

  • Crisis support

If during our work together we sense you'd be better supported by a medical or clinical route, we'll say so clearly and kindly. Nothing is more important than you getting the right help.

If you are in crisis right now, please contact your GP, call NHS 111, or phone Samaritans on 116 123 (free, 24/7).

Who it's for

Coaching and counselling sessions are open to adults (18+). They are especially useful for:

  • Professionals who need a calmer hour than a therapist list from HR

  • Men who prefer a quieter, less clinical space to talk

  • Women juggling "everything" who need an hour that's just theirs

  • Those moving through grief, separation, or major life change

  • Clients already coming to us for energy work who want a talking space too

Session details

  • Duration: 60 minutes

After your session

You may feel clearer, lighter, or tireder than you expected — all completely normal. Let yourself rest, and jot down any thoughts that surface in the day or two after; we can pick them up in the next session.
