About the Course
Reiki Healing Therapy
A calm, restorative hour for body and mind
A Reiki session is one of the gentlest therapies you can receive — and often one of the most deeply restful. You stay fully clothed, relax on a warmed therapy couch, and allow your system to slow down while Reiki is channelled through a light, still touch or just above the body.
There is nothing you need to do, believe, or "achieve" — simply arrive and rest.
What is Reiki?
Reiki (ray-key) is a Japanese energy-healing system developed by Mikao Usui in the early 1900s. The practitioner acts as a channel for universal life energy, supporting the body's own ability to relax, rebalance, and restore. It's non-religious, non-invasive, and suitable for almost everyone.
Reiki doesn't replace medical care — but many people find it a beautiful companion to it, and to everyday life.
What a Reiki session may help with
Clients most often come for Reiki when they are experiencing:
Stress, overwhelm, or burnout
Trouble sleeping or restless sleep
Low mood, anxiety, or emotional heaviness
Physical tension or chronic low-level pain
Grief or recovery from a life event
A sense of being "out of balance" without quite knowing why
Support alongside existing medical treatment
Reiki is deeply relaxing and can support the body's natural recovery processes, but it is not a cure and is not a replacement for medical advice.
What happens in a session
You'll arrive at the centre and we'll spend the first few minutes over a cup of tea, talking briefly about how you're feeling and what you'd like from the session — no long consultations.
You then lie fully clothed on a heated therapy couch, covered with a soft blanket. Gentle music plays in the background. I place my hands lightly on or just above a series of standard positions — head, shoulders, torso, limbs — moving slowly and staying with each position for a couple of minutes.
Most people drift into a state somewhere between waking and sleep. Some feel warmth, tingling, or gentle waves; others feel nothing at all — both are completely normal, and equally effective.
Afterwards you'll have a few minutes with water or tea to come back into the room gently before heading out into the rest of your day.
Who is it for?
Reiki is suitable for almost anyone — from teenagers (with parental consent) through to the elderly, and including people who are pregnant, recovering from illness or surgery, or living with long-term conditions. If you're unsure whether Reiki is right for you, just contact us beforehand.
Session details
Duration: 60 minutes (the first session includes a short intake chat and so runs a little longer)
Location: RP Therapies, our purpose-built therapy centre
Only £40 per session
Courses: Block of 3 or 6 sessions available at a discount
Booking: Same-week appointments are often available — evenings and weekends included
What to wear
Anything comfortable. You stay fully clothed throughout; just shoes and anything bulky (belts, jewellery) come off so you can rest easily on the couch.
After your session
Most clients leave feeling calm, lighter, and often a little sleepy. Drink plenty of water, take it gently for the rest of the day if you can, and notice how your sleep and energy settle over the following 24–48 hours.
Many people find their biggest benefits come from regular sessions — monthly as maintenance, or weekly for a short course during a particularly stressful or illness period. I would allways say be Guided by your innerself.
About your therapist
Reiki sessions are delivered by Richy ("Dickie") Parton, a Usui Reiki Master and holistic therapist. Dickie offers Reiki alongside spiritual healing, Indian head massage, Hopi ear candling, sound bath therapy, and life coaching from the RP Therapies purpose-built therapy centre.
